Awesome! These calipers are rediculously cheap, I've seen them for $500 per pair and they're great performers. 15" rotors work on these though? I know stock is 14. Curious if the rears are also viable.

 

Yeah I got the yellow calipers brand new for 500. Yes you need 15" rotors as others have done it with 14" rotors and the pads do not sit all the way one the rotor. Also our trucks stock have 13" rotors. For the rears there are bracketes avail for them as well. Later this summer I will try that.

You can find used ones from time to time pretty cheap on places like ebay or the corvette forum, many racers replaced the stock Z06 calipers for track use, and you can replace the 6 pad setup with single pads that several companies offer now, makes changes much easier for pad replacement. I guess it would be to much to ask for GM to put nice looking calipers on the Escalade's that cost more than most Z06's.

Hmmm so added this up and it's no cheaper than the Wilwood kit which has a 16'' 2 piece rotor, those Baer's aren't cheap! There's a kit to use these on a Supra which allows the use of an is-f rotor... inexpensive and durable... so it makes sense there. So if it's not cost what do you anticipate the advantage of these to be over the Wilwoods?

Well you can make it cheaper that is the thing. With this you can shop around and find deals. The Wilwood kit with 16" rotors and 6 piston calipers will coast you around 2000. For what I have paid so far and will end up paying I will be right around 1100. You just have to shop and find deals. That is the advantage of doing this. Like I have said in the earlier post. This is a kit you can piece together and not drop 2grand right away. You can make it cheaper if you can find good deals.

 

Its np. I understand looking at prices. But actually got prices directly from Baer and 15" one piece rotor is 544 for the pair. 272.50 each. For the two piece ones they sell it was 497.50 each.

 

Ok so test fited them on the Beltech spindles. They don't fit pefect. I have to grind down some of the spindle.. But very little. I actually started to grind one down and really didn't take long before it almost fit but my grinder took a shit. So I got it to basically sit almost flush with the spindle. But I put on the stock rotors and test the caliper and one of my rims.. One issue I might run into is spacing with the rim. I might need to do a spacer on the wheel. But I will find out more once I actually mock it up correctly with correct rotors. But here are some pics

I'm still REALLY on the fence between the wilwoods and these now... apples to apples for a 2 piece baer they're now the same price but the Wilwoods are 2" bigger and the rotors are thicker, plus there's a 13" pad surface area vs 11.5 for the Z06 pads. So on that route, Wilwoods are probably the better choice

However, comparing to the W6A though these are a much better bargain, at least on paper. The W6A kit is $1850 and I'm pretty confident the M series PBR (z06) will outperform it, especially on a 15". I think you have a GREAT option presented here man, looking forward to the final outcome!

 

Well I do think this kit has advantages especially cost over the W6a kit, but definitely if you are willing to shell out for the TC6 kit it's a different game. Wilwood rotors are also EXTREMELY durable and better balanced than large Baer rotors. My buddy has going through 10 sets of pads on his wilwood 14" rotors through 4 race seasons and the rotors are still well in tact. Unless you track your escalade, the rotors should outlast the car. Otherwise they are expensive, around $490 each

 

Well we will see, I will work on them this afternoon and see. These brakes might be going forsale soon.

I love the wilwoods, especially after hydroboosting them. Not to mention rotors the size of a honda wheel.

 

Was this upgrade ever completed ? If so what are the thoughts about it. And what year z06 calipers are used?

 

I'm not sure how you ordered yellow Z06 calipers. Do you have a part number? I've only seen red in the parts diagrams, order books and on the cars.

That was the go to kit for the Escalade but never really took off. The individual who did purchase one of this kits and posted the install on another forum had difficulties with vibration.

He turned the rotors and still had issues associated with warped rotors or brake material accumulation after that. He sold them on that forum to another member. Their popularity was really doomed after that. This is a two piece caliper design.

The GM 6 pot 5JL kit uses even larger rotors and Brembo axial design mono block calipers made to bolt up to the factory location.

The CTS-Vbrakeswap.com kit uses calipers from … guess, the CTS-V monoblock C6 ZR-1 carbon fiber system but uses standard non CF pads. It uses the same 16” rotors as the 5JL kit.
