would u say it ran a bit better, iv read the thread about the vmax icolator in that it cools the upper intake for more power. taking that into consideration would removing the cover help cool the intake? or is it designed to sumhow cool it off?

I drive with mine; It looks a lot cleaner with it...unless you like that raw engine look; which doesnt really make sense unless you have a CTS-V or something fancy in your engine like a charger. Its really about personal opinion in my eyes. Also, I dont believe it makes any difference in the temperature of the intake manifold. Someone could use a digital thermometer and test it out though...and let us know =]

I drive with mine's on. If you are trying to show off the raw engine...just take off the hood whir you re at it. Lol no need to use the release in the car to access the hood and the engine will be air cooled when you drive :))

I like the "look" of it on, with every Caddy I've owned friends and strangers have asked to see what's under the hood...just looks cleaner.

Sweet mod with the engine cover vents and love the orange intake. Anybody have a Lazer thermomator to put this baby to sleep on the temperature diffances with or without the cover? Also im lookin into gettin that Vmax Iceolator or the mace engineering intake insulator, reading some good stuff on it, on the camaro forums they got some dyno tests done with it. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212430

Anybody know of a vendor in toronto, canada i can order it from??????

Cant see how you would get accurate results with a laser at least with Torque and the elm327 adapter you can do it on the fly you would have to park up after a run and check temps by which time the car could get hotter as there is no flowing air into the intake/front of car.
The best way to determine this would be to let the car come up to temperature then do the same distance as a power run with the cover off and the cover on and monitor the temperature incline/decline via torque, you could use the graphing and do intake temp vs engine coolant temp and then enable logging.

Whoa wait a minute... Did you cut holes on the top of the cover and added a grill like feature to it?

That may solve the "heat" issue right there and keep a clean look to boot.

When i first signed on to the site I was thinking of doing this mod but painted the complete engine instead. It was one of my favorites. I still have my engine cover I could mod I just don't want to cover my engine up now that it's painted.

My engine cover is the only splash of color on my car, so I like to leave it on for those (admittedly rare) "what's under the hood?" moments.

Interestingly enough, when I pop the hood a lot of people STILL think I've got a V because of the cover.

Which reminds me, I've got some fixing to do to this thing.
