Crazy. Looks like poor paint prep work on the plastic bumper. Last time I checked... paint shouldn't peel off :-O

 

Tell them to wrap the bumper with protective film for free.

 

The paint is pretty bad on these cars. Look at all the corners where the panels meet, look at the edges. Often there are paint drips and contaminants. Open doors and hatch and look to see how the edges are finished on the exterior and interior edges. Probably the worst factory paint job I have seen in a car ever. Mine is having paint issues repaired right now too, along with the lifters.

 

What color?

 

I plan to contact GM about this. Just doesn’t sit well. Had another chip on drivers door. Dealer said dirt under the paint caused it.

 

Again... just the reality that our Cadillacs have the paint job from a base Tahoe. :-/ GM needs to step up the quality of the Escalade. I assure you that the team in Arlington doesn't care one bit if it is a $50k Tahoe or a $115k Cadillac... the paint job is the same quality, and so is the rest of the assembly.

 

Had the front of my Z06 repainted due to the exact same issue. GM hasn’t learned a thing, apparently. What a gong show.

I discovered exact same issue on my 2021 Sport. Did the Dealer have any thoughts on the cause of this issue? How are the replacement parts holding up? They've ordered parts for mine, but I sure hope they aren't going to replace defective parts with more defective parts (necessitating another trip to the Dealer). Thanks!

 

Had the same EXACT issue with mine as well, had to have the whole bumper repainted...also noticed a few dust spots in the paint on the hood so I had them repaint that as well. As far as the bumper is concerned I was told there is a service bulletin for this issue on all the new body style of tahoe, yukon, and escalade and it had to do with the coating on the bumper during assembly

 

We shouldn’t even be talking about this for a car at this price point!

 

Not even a car at 10-20,000 should have these paint issues.

 

i have the black onyx package. The mufflers are painted black and the inside of them are already peeling.

 

mufflers are painted black? Do you have a pic? I think you mean the integrated exhaust outlets.

 

All sports have black exhaust covers. Does not need to be Onyx. Mufflers aren't painted black from what I recall.

 

Ya it is a sport with black onyx package, so maybe they are covers? But to me it looks like chipped paint. Car is in service so cant get a pic of the actual color fading.

 

Got a call from GM today. They are flying out an engineer to look at the front bumper. Apparently they had a fix in place before my build date…looks like it didn’t fix.

 

When was your build date again? Concerned I'm going to pick mine up in a month and have to take it straight to a local dealer.

Possibly why mine is still sitting in Arlington. Same color and built the week before. Going to be the first thing I look for when it does show up!

A bunch of people on the Tahoe forum are having paint peeling issue as well.. and not just white :-O.

 

It is baffling that they are having issue with this.... working out the bugs on a new design or new tech is understandable, but painting a car? Come on.....

 

I am guessing there is something wrong with the prep or materials for the front and rear bumper covers. The paint issues seem to only be on these plastic parts.

 

Got a call this week 3 engineers are coming out to take my bumper off on the 28th. They are shipping up a new bumper from the factory. Sounds like they are going to analyze the current bumper with the GM Supplier.

 

That's good. Hope the paint matches. Tricoat can look yellow and hard to match.

If I bought a base model Chevy Silverado and it had these paint issues I would find it unacceptable.

 

Agreed. Paint peeling is not acceptable on any car.

 

Anyone have continuous issues with the paint peeling at the front fascia? Had mine repainted 2 months ago and it is already starting to peel again in the same area...Dealer says they have to contact GM but I'm concerned this is going to keep occurring...Covered or not its a pain in the ass taking it back and forth to the dealer

 

Yes, me. The SR Engineer for Bumpers, Grille, & Fascia is coming out to STL to look at the vehicle at the end of the month. I got connected with him through GM & not through anyone at the dealer.

 

He mentioned 3 engineers in total. The first time it happened within 3-4 weeks of delivery. Contacted GM. Happened again another 3 weeks after it was painted, but GM was already scheduled to come in town. They are shipping up a painted bumper from the factory & taking mine back to analyze.

 

Dampens the excitement of taking delivery soon.

 

I noticed last night that also have this issue. Just a small tear at the moment, but same location.

Not the best photo, but that is the paint peeling up from the top edge of the front bumper cover. (you are looking at the bottom of the raised paint.) (I should not that I have Paint protection film on there... so the line horizontal lines you see are just the edge of that. I am sure i will have to have the bumper recovered when this is all over.)

 

Can clearly see it starting to peel. Damn…
