Going to try a transmission additive

I got that P039 no TCC lockup. I tested the solenoid as per shop manual several months ago, resistance came up to specs. I'm going to retest tomorrow. If solenoid test comes up normal, shop manual states dirt might be causing the problem. I'm thinking of adding some type of transmission fluid additive with some cleaning agent to maybe free up a possible dirty valve. Anyone know or ever used a good additive? I'm not a big fan of adding additives but I do have a spare transmission just sitting in my garage.

Lucas Transmission fix. Last time I changed transmission fluid in mine I dropped the pan, changed filters, removed the hidden plug to get more fluid out, measured the amount of fluid that came out, and refilled with new fluid substituting 1 qt. with the Lucas.

Shifting was a lot smoother after, whether the Lucas had anything to do with it or just the new fluid i don't know, but it didn't hurt anything by adding it.

I guess I'll give that Lucas a try. Worst case senario, I'll have to swap out the transmission. When I go to data 73 with the onboard computer, it's only a 100-140 difference in rpm's with TCC not locking up. I would never pay for a rebuild if this was only problem and trans shifted perfect otherwise. It would take at least 50,000 miles in gas savings to equal a quality rebuild of the tranny.

Yep, I lived with P0741 for over 3 years, transmission gave out completely 110k after the code first surfaced. At which time it was replaced with a used unit (116k) for around $1,600 including labor, replaced the TCC solenoid prior to installation.
