One thing I don't LOVE about my Fleetwood Brougham is the leather.. It was great back in 1995, but it doesn't meet-up with today's standards.. I happen to think Lexus and Mercedes leather is pretty amazing - so I'd love to have something like that (very soft, perforated) in my car.. Where do I begin to look? Has anyone done something like this before? What might it cost?

Hey Sal, if I were in your shoes I would find out who's the best auto upholsterer in your area, talk to them and get an estimate including the material they would use. There may be other options like replacement covers, that might take some searching.
I gotta tell you though, I love the velour fabric in my DeVille. I think it's the most comfortable interior I have ever been in and I drive 4 to 5 hrs at a time on business trips. It's never too hot, never too cold and never sticky.
Just my 2 cents.

Sal, over at the NICO forums we have a specialist named Ron Fryer who does leather, cloth, and vinyl upholstery for all kinds of cars. His deals save me $300 over local upholsterers. http://www.nicoclub.com/ -- Scroll down to the "Interiors" forum at the bottom and post.

I want to eventually replace my velour seats with leather ones. Ideally, I would like to get the Brougham D'Elegance ones with the leather buttons and everything. I also would ideally like to replace the headliner with a leather one as well. Someday right! Heh, when I tell my wife about these ideas she just gives me a look, but at some point I do intend to get it done. I will probably just take it tot he auto trim shop and have them do it however.

LOL, I think most any guy knows "the look." After all, we deserve it right?

Try dismantling a late model DTS in the garage while her car sits out in the cold, rain and snow. Talk about 'the look'....sheesh.

An interior out of a late model car might be the most cost effective, but I don't know what would be a direct fit. I know from experience that interiors in wrecked cars generally just get crushed. There's not really any market value for them. I wish I had gotten to the car that donated all the parts for my DTS project sooner. It was a collision-totaled DTS and the inside was really nice, but it had sat in the yard exposed to the elements for 2 months (no windshield, back window or RH front door). The only interior pieces I could use were the door panels, seat frames and some random trim parts. I was able to salvage the rear seat back leather, tho.

I don't know why GM can't put decent leather in these cars. My mom's '02 Deville driver's seat leather looks crappy after a relatively short period of time. My car only has 46k miles on it and the driver's seat is pretty worn. Ditto on dad's SS Camaro and my brother's '02 WS6 TA. I know people with 100k+ on BMWs and MBs whose leather interiors look like they day they bought them. My '04 'Yota has what appears to be good stuff in it, too (it's a van, too, so there's a lot of it). It's soft and at 10k miles it looks great, but who knows what more mileage will bring.

Take your car to Tijuana.

Man, you can get some nice tuck and roll for just a few pesos.

Sal i think you posted this question before...the answer is katzkin....if they make a kit for your car it will be the most options, best quality and one of the cheapest ways.....theyre product is IMHO better than the leather that comes with the car
